During the DNC Convention, Republican State Rep. Russ Diamond Tweeted that Tim Walz should have chosen to leave his son, Gus Walz, at home due to his neurodivergence and learning disabilities after Gus’ proud outpouring of support for his father. 

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee (PA HDCC) condemns PA State Rep. Russ Diamond’s ableist statements on Twitter/X arguing that Tim Walz should have chosen to leave his son, Gus Walz, at home during the DNC Convention because of his neurodivergence and learning disabilities. 

Everyone, regardless of their ability status, should be free to participate in our electoral process and attend public events. Attacking a minor child of a politician is reprehensible and unbecoming of any elected official.

The PA HDCC calls on Republicans in the Pennsylvania House to condemn State Rep. Russ Diamond’s statements disparaging an elected official’s minor child and implying that disabled people should be left at home.
