Democrat Brandon Dukes Statement on the Results of the Special Election in Butler County

Cranberry Township, PA – Brandon Dukes, Democratic State House candidate for Butler County HD-12 vacancy, has issued the following statement on the results of the Special Election in HD-12 on Tuesday:

"We want to count every vote, every provisional, every overseas voter, but based on these results, I have nothing but gratitude for the support of my friends, family, staff and volunteers who have supported me through this entire journey,” said Brandon Dukes. “We can now do so much more in the State House to deliver real wins for working families. I plan to get to work on day one to make our roads like 228 safer and more convenient, to better fund our children's schools, to make healthcare more affordable, and to bring costs down across the board for our community here in Butler County.”

Dukes will fill the seat through the remainder of the term, but both candidates will face off again in November during the general election.

Widely considered a bellwether of the November election, this pickup for Pennsylvania House Democrats and the impressive turnout is a strong sign of momentum and enthusiasm for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.

“This is just the first of many exciting flips Democrats are fighting for in November,” said PA House Democratic Campaign Committee Executive Director Madeline Zann. “Voters are tired of Republicans’ chaos and their refusal to make changes for working families like raising the minimum wage and lowering our cost of living.”

“One election down, one election to go,” said Dukes. “We are still 70-odd days away from our state-wide Election Day in November. Between now and then, I won’t take a single vote for granted - I will be out knocking doors and connecting directly with voters.”
