Biography

Michelle F. Brownlee is running for State Representative in the 195th Legislative District in Philadelphia. For the last 35 years,Michelle has worked in the legislative district office of State Rep. Frank Oliver.  She started working in the office in 1974 volunteering.Rep. Oliver quickly learned that Michelle was smart, hardworking and passionate about public service, so he hired her, giving her the opportunity of a lifetime – to be a public servant.

Over the years, she worked her way up to chief of staff the old fashioned way – through hard work, diligence, commitment, loyalty, positive energy and a love for the community.  Working in the office of the legislator, Michelle has assisted countless people who live in the district with concerns ranging from saving their homes from foreclosures to unemployment compensation to public welfare and public education. 

Michelle is first ward chairwoman of the 29th Ward. She is a committeeperson in the 29th Ward, 15th Division, a past member of the board of directors of the Historic Berean Institute, and also a graduate of the Berean Institute Para-Legal program.  In 1995 and 1996, she earned the Judge’s Honors, a coveted award at Berean Institute. She was also listed in “Who’s Who for Junior Colleges.”

She is a past chairwoman of the Philadelphia School District’s Head Start Policy Council, a member of Celestial Word Ministries in North Philadelphia, a licensed missionary, past president of the Missionary Board and president of the Pastor’s Aide Committee.

Michelle F. Brownlee is a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a well respected community activist. A strong leader, she knows what is means to represent the people she serves.
